Andy is in charge of waking up Orli in the mornings; neither she nor I are particularly morning people. Unless, of course, it is the weekend, in which case Orli is totally a morning person and is ready to go as soon as the sun comes up.
There is always a few extra minutes to lay in bed. I want to remember the way she pulls the blankets back over her head in an attempt to will the world to let her sleep a little longer. Not that she ever would go back to sleep. She's always ready to start they day even if she pretends to want to stay in bed.
Andy does Orli's hair while I get dressed. Well, he does the first part; I am in charge of all braiding. Of course when you wear an Elsa dress you need your hair braided like Elsa.
Hug attack!
Breakfast is yogurt, berries, juice, granola. We go through three pounds of yogurt a week. That's a lot for a family of three, one of which is lactose intolerant. (That would be me, of course, because nothing is ever easy!)
And after breakfast we "play stickers". She's making a night time sky.
Andy is off to Tallahassee today, so he lugs all the normal bags down to the cars and his suitcase as well. It'll be girls day Tuesday, Wednesday, and half of Thursday. It was tough when Orli was a baby, but now she's so big single parenting it for a few days isn't really a big deal at all. We call these days "dates".
I snapped a quick picture of the house as we walked down the driveway to the car. I love our house. I love this front porch. I love our red door. I love sipping a cool drink, reading a magazine, and watching the kids play in the street from here. Such a peaceful, happy place.
Since Daddy is leaving for a few days, we have to get in some extra play.
And giant hugs for Daddy before he leaves.
Preschool drop off. She goes right to the playground and I put her things away in the classroom. Drive to work.
Work is work. Which I love and is important and does not have a lot of interesting parts to photograph. But here I am in my office.
I water the garden. Strawberries are growing. Chives are flowering.
Pick up Orli and home. She falls asleep in the car and I carry her up the two flights of stairs to her room. Meow is eager to remind me she needs food, so I fill up her bowl.
I have a late lunch myself. The last of the quinoa and turkey bacon salad, some left over challah, and cranberry juice cut with water.
She wakes up and we have a few minutes of cartoons before we leave for Tee Ball. Kate and Mimm-Mimm is her current favorite.
We go to Tee Ball practice. She speeds by while running bases and is excellent at hitting the ball off the tee.
We picnic on the front sidewalk for dinner.
Pasta salad, grapes, water.
There may have been (non dairy) ice cream.
So of course we spend extra time on dental hygiene.
And wash off all the dirt of the day. And put on pajamas, and read stories, and get tucked into bed. It was all a blur with just me, so no photos of that. Meow did get into bed with Orli, so she asked if she could stay. I told her it was fine and I'd crack the door so Meow could leave later that night. Two minutes later, as I am gluing some heel pads into my shoes, I hear "MAMA! MOM! MEOW IS SNIFFING ME!" -- so I escort the cat out of Orli's room. All is quiet. I finish gluing my shoes and cleaning up downstairs.
Shower and book time for me.
