Week in the Life 2016: Thursday

Friday, May 13, 2016

Up around 6:15.  I wander groggily into the closet to figure out what to wear for the day.  I settle on a Summery Boden dress in blue and white (for Yom Haatzmaut) and a navy cardigan from Talbots.  I lay it out on the chair in the bedroom.

I putter around for a bit, then realize I've wasted 15 minutes.  Time to do some housework!

Make the bed, put away books, move clutter.

See how my weight is doing.  I've been losing weight too quickly with my stomach trouble, so I am trying really hard to maintain where I am.  It's a good day today.

A quick walk around the yard to find any stray toys, balls, legos (those are from the neighbor kids) and to see if my elephant ears are coming up yet.  No sign of legos or elephant ears.

Roses are blooming, though.

These smell amazing, but they're on their last legs.   Soon they'll be back to lush green bushes.  I will miss the blooms.

Time to unload the dishwasher.

And feed the cat.  Her favorite food is Tuna For Cats from Trader Joes.  It smells vile, but man she loves it and I've noticed a reduction in barfs since she's started eating it.  (Don't worry, she's not sick, she's just a naturally barfy cat).

Time to wake up Orli and get her dressed for the day.  She decides on a light pink shirt and her butterfly skirt.

We wear matching bows at her request.

Breakfast is yogurt and toast.

Here you can see our matching bows.

We have a little time to spare before we need to leave for preschool and work, so she blows bubbles while I load up the car.

And tests out her new safety glasses I got her.

On the way to school she likes to have the windows down on the surface roads, and today she managed to catch a bag that flew into our car window.  It was both awesome and sort of gross.  Luckily the bag was clean.  She is also holding her toast wrapped up in a paper towel because she said that toast tastes better on the school playground.

This was hung up outside her classroom today.

I get to work and it's all Yom Haatzmaut for me.  Lots of chopping cucumbers, putting together food platters, pulling everything together for tonight's Israeli Dinner at the JCC.

I, of course, take an interlude in the garden.  Strawberry is so ripe, yet so nibbled!  I saw the brown thrasher that has been snacking on it.

Our tomatoes are growing!

1:45 arrives and it is time to pick up Orli from post-preschool ballet.  They always get a little doo-dad at the end of class and today she got a smiley face eraser.  She was delighted.

We head to her classroom to pick up her bags and head home.

She naps, I chill out.  Andy gets home from the airport and he takes over Daddy Duty and I head back to work.

On the road.

I get to making some buttons to hand out to our guests.

And eat some falafel, hummus, and cucumbers, of course.  I am so delighted that my stomach is letting me eat today!

Andy keeps me updated on how Orli's first Tee Ball game of the season is going.

Her team, The Harbison Cubs.

And batting like a boss!

Just as the game ends and they're eating dinner, I head home.  Clean up took longer than expected, so I skipped the Rosh Chodesh class I was going to go to afterward, as I had already missed half of it.  That was kind of a bummer.

But reading stories with my family is never a bummer.
